Why We Re-Assess Every Client Every 90 Days

Most gyms assess you once — during the sales pitch. Here's what quarterly movement assessments actually catch, and why they're the backbone of every Apex program.

When people ask what makes Apex different, the honest answer isn't the equipment or even the coaching style. It's a calendar event: every client, every 90 days, gets a full movement re-assessment. Here's why we're stubborn about it.

What a 90-day screen actually catches

1. Plateaus, before you feel them

Strength curves flatten quietly. By the time you feel stuck, you've usually been under-recovering or under-loading for weeks. Comparing this quarter's baselines against your dashboard history catches the flattening early, while it's still a one-variable fix.

2. Asymmetries that become injuries

A 10% left-right difference in a single-leg test is invisible in a mirror and obvious in a screen. Catch it in February and it's two accessory exercises. Ignore it until August and it's a cranky knee that derails a season.

3. Life changes your body

New job, new baby, marathon block, desk move, poor sleep quarter — your program should reflect the body you have now. The assessment is how we find out what now looks like, instead of assuming January-you still applies.

What it looks like in practice

The quarterly session takes about 45 minutes:

  • Mobility screens for ankles, hips, shoulders, and spine
  • Stability tests — single-leg work, core pressure control
  • Strength baselines on your key lifts
  • A sit-down review of your dashboard trends and next quarter's plan

You leave with three things: what improved (celebrate it — the data says you earned it), what's lagging, and exactly how next quarter's program addresses the gap.

Why most gyms don't do this

It's expensive in coach time, and it creates accountability that cuts both ways — if your numbers stall, your coach has to answer for the program. We think that's exactly the kind of pressure a coach should be under.

The takeaway

You wouldn't run a business on one financial report from the day you opened. Don't run your body that way either.
